Four-star RB target disrespects Florida State in his commitment announcement

This was a tough recruiting ceremony to watch for Florida State fans.

Florida State football is in a dark time right now, as the Seminoles are struggling to find consistency. The program has a combined seven wins in two years, and the fan base is red-hot about the job that head coach Mike Norvell has done during his tenure at Florida State.

With that said, the uncertainty of Norvell being with the Seminoles in 2027 has to cause hesitancy amongst recruits that might want to play at Florida State. The reality is that if Mike Norvell gets fired, the coaching staff might not even show interest in the prospect, and it could be a waste of time for them to sign with the Seminoles.

The Seminoles' 2027 recruiting class is a mess right now, where they only have six commitments on board and rank as the 45th-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Four-star running back target Brayden Tyson chooses South Carolina over Florida State

While Florida State does want to create fireworks in July (no pun intended), many prospects being recruited are committed elsewhere or hesitant to commit to Florida State, given the situation. One prospect that the Seminoles were thought to be in a good position for was four-star Brayden Tyson from Snellville, Georgia.

Tyson had visited the Seminoles' campus numerous times, but the talented four-star prospect elected to commit to the South Carolina Gamecocks. The fan base could blame it on Mike Norvell being on the hot seat, but let's not act like Shane Beamer isn't on the hot seat, too, after the Gamecocks' 2025 campaign.

Tyson picked up the Florida State hat on the table and decided to put it back down and wear the South Carolina one instead. At least it wasn't a Travis Hunter situation where he threw the Seminoles' hat across the room, but it is frustrating to see Florida State be a laughingstock.

Florida State's main need isn't running back since they have pieces such as Tre Wisner, Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr., and Amari Thomas in the position group, but it is recommended to continue stacking talent together even if the position looks loaded. The numbers always take care of themselves.

The Seminoles have already struck out on four-star Ty Keys to Miami and now four-star Brayden Tyson to South Carolina. Position coach Kam Martin still has prospects such as four-star Gary Walker, four-star Jayden Mills, three-star Kelsey Gerald, three-star Marquis Fennell, three-star Asa Barnes, and three-star Tai Phillips visiting campus for official visits this summer.
