Turnover Margin
Turning the ball over is something the FSU offense excelled at last season, and generating turnovers is something the FSU defense sucked at last year. That’s not a winning combination, and it bore out in the 2-10 record.
The FSU offense turned it over 22 times, and the FSU defense forced SIX turnovers for a -16 turnover margin. The good news is that FSU has shown great improvement in a small snapshot.
The first team FSU offense hasn’t turned it over yet, and the FSU defense has forced two turnovers in two games. I noted that one of Jordan Travis’s best attributes was protecting the ball and not turning it over.
It’s something the coaching staff has tried to memic with Thomas Castellanos. If the FSU offense can protect the ball and the FSU defense forces turnovers more times than not, that increases a team’s winning percentage drastically.
