There were some questions about the defense going into the 2025 season. Tony White made his reputation by stopping the run, but his defense never had a ton of sacks or tackles for a loss while at Nebraska, although his defense was among the top 20 nationally.
FSU has more overall talent than those Nebraska defenses, so I was curious how they would play. I was confident he could install his defense well, because he did it at two different places before FSU and had success.
However, when it came to venturing from his base, stunts and twists from the defensive line, timing blitzes from the linebacker or secondary? I wasn’t sure what we’d get.
However, FSU has six sacks and 16 tackles for a loss through two games and truthfully should be well north of 20 due to some missed tackles in both games.
Nebraska only had 81 tackles for a loss and 30 sacks last season, and FSU is on track to easily surpass those numbers.
