Passing Completion Percentage

One of the biggest question marks for the offense was how well the passing game would do with Thomas Castellanos at the helm. Castellanos showed some improvement as a passer last season at Boston College, but still only completed about 61 percent of his passes.

Granted, he was taking vertical shots down the field more than most, which will decrease anyone’s accuracy.

It’s a very small sample size, but Castellanos has completed 68 percent of his passes through two games. The few passes he hasn’t completed were either thrown out of bounds because nobody was open and he was under pressure, or just off target.

He hasn’t thrown many passes that have been in danger of getting intercepted, either. However, it’s not like he’s dinking and dunking the ball down the field. Castellanos has taken some deep shots. The third down conversion to Squirrel White against Alabama was 40+ yards.

The pass down the sideline to Jaylin Lucas against Alabama was explosive, and he had 12+ yard passes to Duce Robinson and Randy Pittman Jr. against Alabama. He threw two 40+ yard passes through the air against East Texas A&M.

If he is anywhere near a 65+ completion percentage or better, FSU will run roughshod over teams on the schedule.
