FSU football: Top 5 reasons Noles will defeat Duke Blue Devils Friday night
By Kelvin Hunt
Duke's QB Isn't A Huge Threat To Run
This aspect is one of the major keys to the game. FSU faced a couple of teams that didn't have a major dual-threat QB and fared well. Memphis and California were those two teams, and FSU only allowed 29 points in those two games combined, and some of that was a result of the FSU offense turning the ball over.
Duke's Maalik Murphy has nine rushes for -54 yards and zero touchdowns in the first six games. He only averages 1.5 rush attempts per game. Murphy only completes 60 percent of his passes, and all of this is against sub-par competiton.
He was 18 of 31 for 205 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception against Georgia Tech in his last outing, and their defense ranks No. 79 nationally.
In the two games against California and Memphis, the FSU defense held both teams to 5.5 ypp or less and fewer than three yards per rush.
