FSU football: Top 5 reasons Noles will defeat Duke Blue Devils Friday night
All about the matchup

Duke's Weak Schedule
Duke has a better record, but they have played a considerably easier schedule than FSU. They have only beaten two teams from major conferences, and two wins were by a combined seven points. Northwestern ranks worse offensively than FSU, and North Carolina has only beaten one team from a major conference.
When we go to FEI advanced metrics to view a team's strength of schedule, there are three different metrics. Here's where Duke ranks in all three for SOS:
- No. 119
- No. 103
- No. 96
Here's where FSU ranks in the same metrics:
- No. 37
- No. 13
- No. 3
If the two teams traded schedules, there's a good chance their records would flip like these SOS metrics. Although the record doesn't reflect it, FSU still has more overall talent, which gives them a little more margin of error in a close game.
