Lawayne McCoy

FSU receiver Lawayne McCoy saw his first action of the season after dealing with an injury for much of fall camp. Mike Norvell mentioned he would likely be on a snap count, but McCoy made his presence felt with two receptions for 30 yards.

He looked smooth and explosive, and the “Tier One” receiver will become another viable option for Thomas Castellanos in the passing game. It’s especially important since Squirrel White can be injury-prone and Micahi Danzy is still developing as a receiver.

The wide receiver position was shallow going into the year, but it’s slowly developing into a major strength with emerging depth. If McCoy joins Robinson, White, Danzy, and Jayvan Boggs on a consistent basis? That’s a heck of a lineup that can do damage in a variety of ways.
