Who Will We See at Backup QB First?
I know Brock Glenn dealt with an injury in fall camp, which allowed freshman Kevin Sperry to get a lot of reps at practice. I’m not sure what Glenn’s injury status is, but he’s listed as the backup on the depth chart.
Will we see Glenn go into the game first, or will it be Sperry? If it’s Sperry, I think the writing is on the wall about the future of the program. If it’s Glenn, how many series does he get before they bring Sperry into the game?
I’m curious how much different the offense looks when it goes from Thomas Castellanos to the backups. I think Sperry’s skillset is probably more similar to Castellanos' than Glenn's, but it’s not like Glenn can’t run.
How much success they have will likely depend on who is out there for the offensive line. I’m curious to see what that second unit looks like. There are several young players who don’t have any experience, and FSU needs to build depth for this year and next year since they’ll lose nearly all of the starting offensive line from this year after the season.
So, lots of things to look for in this game. There will be some mistakes once the starters go out, but it’s the perfect opportunity to learn and build for the future.
