FSU football: Oddsmakers confused what to do for Charleston Southern game?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football avoided a loss last week because they were on a bye. However, they will return to action on Saturday afternoon in what's likely their final chance to win their second game in 2024 against Charleston Southern.
Both are one-win teams and if you said FSU could lose against Charleston Southern before the season started, everyone would have laughed in your face.
The crazy part is odds for nearly every college game this week were released on Sunday, and the odds for this game are nowhere to be found. I've looked on several different betting apps and can't find anything. FSU is the only FBS team that hasn't scored more than 21 points this season. They fired both coordinators a week ago, and the defense has worsened as the weeks progressed.
Some FSU fans are legitimately concerned that FSU could lose this game, and maybe the oddsmakers are struggling to set the opening line for that reason. I asked a friend what they thought the line should be, and the number I got was -21. I was like, FSU hasn't scored more than 21 all season!
How is this a conversation for FSU fans? Charleston Southern is averaging 15.5 ppg and allowing 25.45 ppg, though they play drastically weaker competition. I mean, FSU should dominate, but would you feel comfortable betting on FSU after what you've seen over the past five or six weeks? A betting line will come at some point, but the absence of one tells me oddsmakers are taking more time to run their numbers because of how bad FSU has been.
The game will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will air on the ACC Network.
