Thomas Castellanos seems to be exceling in the offense

FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos doesn't have to be a Heisman contender for FSU to exceed expectations this year. However, he does need to play well, and the FSU defense needs to make significant strides compared to last year.

I'm almost certain the latter will happen, but the initial reports from fall camp are favorable with Castellanos.

The word consistency comes to mind. Consistency and not turning the ball over are the two biggest X-factors in determining his success.

I documented his inconsistencies with Bill O'Brien trying to make him a pocket passer. That won't be the case with Gus Malzahn. I think Castellanos understands his role in the offense, and reports of him extending plays to make things happen are what we want to hear.

They are not going to run him a ton in practice, so don't expect to hear much about that. However, they have mentioned he's hit a few deep shots vertically in the passing game. If FSU can do that with some type of consistency? This offense will be much better than folks think.
