More Accountability/Leadership

This is something I’ve been harping on for a while. It’s obvious that Mike Norvell and the coaching staff have put a greater emphasis on accountability and leadership.

The coaches have been open about what they have seen at practice and used the media to spread their messaging across.  They have said numerous times that the best players will play, and the players are what they put on film at practice.

That wasn’t the case last year, and coaches were not held accountable. Players were not held accountable, and it wasn’t a player-led team.

We’ve seen it reflected in some younger players bypassing older players with lots of experience. The dismissal of Conrad Hussey for his actions is another example.

We’ve seen and heard the players talk about leadership. The coaches can rattle off the names of players who have exhibited leadership. That wasn’t the case last year.

We’ll have to see how guys respond in actual games, but I’ve heard Mike Norvell say this team has “fight” nearly every practice.
