Need More Depth At Certain Positions

I’ve said it many times, but I think this team’s starting 22 can compete with most teams on the schedule. One of the biggest differences between good and great teams is the depth, or lack thereof.

How much can a team substitute players before there’s a huge drop-off in production or competency?

That’s the question for FSU. Obviously, if any team’s starting quarterback goes down, there will be a drop-off. FSU needs to continue building depth along its offensive line. I think they have a strong 5-6, but need another 2-3 players to continue developing to build depth at that crucial position.

FSU will be fine at running back and tight end. They need to continue developing depth at wide receiver.

On the defensive side, the linebackers have the best depth of all the units. The secondary has talent, but needs to develop depth. The defensive line needs to develop more depth. I think FSU has the bodies to do it at some of these spots, but lacks the experience needed.

Hopefully, the Kent State and East Texas A&M games will provide opportunities to build in those areas.
