Flip Season

FSU ultimately flipped four players on Early Signing Day. Yes, FSU lost Solomon Thomas, but we know it was because he got mad that FSU fired Alex Atkins.

Why was he upset over a guy who had never developed a high school player into a guy who got drafted by an NFL team since arriving at FSU? I'll never know. I saw the interview after he signed with LSU talking about how he was disappointed he couldn't sign with FSU.

He didn't have to sign on Wednesday. He could have waited to see who FSU was going to hire. I understand relationships matter, but he's a top recruit getting paid a lot of money. Those guys will get their shot to develop and play no matter who the coach is. Whoever FSU decides to hire will likely have a better track record of developing guys than Alex Atkins.

Nevertheless, the programs FSU flipped players from were good to see. Georgia did NOT want to lose Ousmane Kromah. That was a huge feather in Mike Norvell's cap. FSU flipped blue-chip players from Auburn and Florida. It was good to get one back on Billy Napier since it appeared he was raiding the FSU commit list at one time.

It also looked good that FSU got the higher-rated guy to flip to replace the running back who decommitted recently to flip to Florida.

FSU also flipped guys from UCF and USF. The players from UCF were likely because of Gus Malzahn, and it was clear the USF guy wasn't going to sign there regardless.

Although all of the flips were not as high-profile as Ousmane Kromah, it does look good from a perception standpoint.
