FSU responds to adversity well

A 17-play 75-yard opening touchdown drive would demoralize a lot of teams, especially one that only won two games last year. However, the FSU program used complementary football to feed off one another and punched Alabama right back in the mouth with some haymakers.

The FSU offense scored a touchdown on its first two possessions and a field goal, while the FSU defense forced a long missed field goal and two punts to close out the first half.

Alabama tried to snatch the momentum in the third quarter, but FSU wasn’t having it. A botched punt return by Jaylin Lucas gave Alabama new life after they had scored a field goal to cut the deficit to 24-10. However, the FSU defense bowed on the short field and forced a turnover on downs. It was a huge moment in the game because it was still the third quarter.

When Alabama managed to trim the deficit to 24-17 with 11 minutes remaining, the FSU offense marched right down the field on a 10-play 75-yard touchdown drive to put the game away.
