Is UVA for real? I have my doubts, but here's what they've shown so far.

UVA Offense Could Struggle In Red Zone and Placekicker Might Be Shaky

As good as the UVA offense has looked, they have struggled more than you’d think in the red zone, especially considering they haven’t faced any top competition.

When we look at the two Power Four teams they’ve faced, they have had 12 red zone possessions, and only scored touchdowns six times (50 percent). They had to settle for field goals three times and came away with no points on three other occasions.

It seems UVA moves the ball well between the 20s, but struggles to execute once the field condenses in the red zone. The UVA kicker has already missed three field goals in four games, and UVA won’t beat FSU by kicking field goals.

I’m sure they might be willing to go for it on fourth down or do some crazy stuff since they will be at home in front of a national audience with nothing to lose. They’ve gone for it on fourth down 10 times in four games, so FSU must understand the math if UVA gets to certain parts of the field, especially considering they might not trust their kicker.

Overall Thoughts

I think UVA may have some success on offense early, but we'll see Tony White and company make adjustments. I think FSU will have its way with the UVA defense as long as they don't beat themselves with turnovers or tons of focus penalties.
