Running game
Mike Norvell seemed pleased with how the running backs performed in the second scrimmage, and the offensive line apparently opened some running lanes, which is a positive.
The first running back mentioned by Mike Norvell was Gavin Sawchuk. The transfer was added to the mix this summer and has a great blend of speed and power.
Freshman Ousmane Kromah had a monster blitz pick-up and had a nice run after the catch in a video the team posted on social media the other day.
Sophomore Kam Davis got some praise from Mike Norvell for a couple of runs. I want to see if the running game continues to have some success in this second scrimmage. Will the same names keep coming up?
Will one or two of the running backs begin to separate themselves from the pack? I have no doubt that Kromah will get more reps as the season progresses. I'm wondering how much he can progress between now and the season opener. If I had to guess. I'd say Sawchuk, Kromah, and Roydell Williams get the bulk of the carries early until somebody takes the reins in that unit.
