Special Teams
FSU football only ran about 10 plays inside Doak Campbell Stadium before they had to move inside the Indoor Practice Facility. That happened, limiting the work the team could do on special teams.
FSU will have a new kicker and punter in 2025. If the guys perform well in practice, doing it in a real game offers a different type of game pressure.
The team could kick field goals, and it seems whoever was kicking missed an opportunity or so. We haven't heard anything regarding punt returns or kickoff returns. Sam Singleton got valuable kickoff return experience last year and had some success. Jaylin Lucas will likely join him if he can stay healthy, and he had great success at his previous institution.
Punt return is the larger question mark. Lawayne McCoy is the only returner from last year with any experience. He wasn't great at it and has been hurt for much of the offseason. Who will emerge in this important role? FSU only averaged 1.53 yards per return last year. That needs to drastically improve in 2025.
