UVA Poor Rushing Defense

When we look at the NC State rushing attack against the UVA defense, Gus Malzahn has to be licking his chops. The Wolfpack averaged a whopping 6.2 yards per rush and had several runs of 10+ yards.

NC State also had four rushing touchdowns, and the UVA defense only had five tackles for a loss.

NC State’s rushing attack went for 216 yards on 35 carries, with 51 percent of their runs going for four yards or better. They only had 10 run plays to go for two or fewer yards (29 percent).

NC State only generated 14 first-half points, but scored 21 in the third quarter, and that relentless rushing attack might have worn the UVA defense down.

FSU has a bevy of quality running backs in the stable, not to mention Thomas Castellanos is more of a threat to hurt teams with his legs than NC State’s CJ Bailey. It will be pick your poison time for NC State’s defensive coordinator. They won’t be able to stop FSU’s run game with a light box, which opens another can of worms.
