FSU football: 3 players on the Seminoles' roster could make a difference versus Miami
DE MARVIN JONES JR.
Florida State's defensive unit has performed well this season. As we discussed before, the offense is arguably the worst in the country. That allows the job that defensive coordinator Adam Fuller has done to be undermined.
The Seminoles recently lost a game to the Duke Blue Devils where the Blue Devils recorded 180 total yards. This has to be frustrated for a defense to give everything that they have just to lose once again.
Florida State fans thought that the defense would take a massive step back after losing pieces such as Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett Sr., Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, and Akeem Dent.
I am not saying that the Seminoles' defense has been perfect because I guarantee you that if Florida State gets a defensive penalty, they will allow a huge chunk play. The Seminoles did not record a sack versus the Blue Devils.
As a result, I believe that this could be a game where defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. takes advantage. Think of the story that could be written if Jones Jr., whose father (Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr.) played for the Seminoles and had a highlight hit versus the Hurricanes, has a notable game.
I think that this could be an opportunity for the former Georgia transfer to finally make his presence felt on the defense.
