FSU Defense
Yes, the defense played poorly, especially on third downs, allowing UVA to convert 7 of 13 and going 2-2 on fourth down. That was the difference in the game, as FSU only had two sacks and four tackles for a loss.
The UVA offense killed FSU over the middle with underneath routes, and Chandler Morris hurt FSU with his legs big time in some key moments.
They have a legit offense, and we said as much going into the game. However, as well as UVA played on offense, and as poorly as FSU played on defense, there was some flukish stuff that also helped UVA.
The missed interception/defended pass by Jerry Jones that resulted in a long catch that put UVA in scoring position right before halftime. The hit by Earl Little Jr. on the running back stopped him, but he didn’t wrap up, and scored the touchdown to tie the game right before the half.
FSU fans have a right to be pissed at the defense, but some credit must be given to the UVA offense. They scouted well and found the holes to expose and executed. They executed better than the FSU offense.
There are some things Tony White can do to sure up a few of these issues if the guys can execute. FSU doesn't have an elite defense like some may have thought(we never thought that), but some of it may be that UVA's offense is that good.
