Transfer Portal/Roster Management

FSU expects to have lots of roster turnover and already has a double-digit number of players in the transfer portal. We can expect that number to double probably, but that's a positive development because there was way too much dead weight on the roster.

By dead weight, I mean players taking roster spots but not contributing on the field or were not impact players.

That will change, as the transfer portal officially opened on Monday, and FSU already has interest from several players who could make an impact in 2025. The Noles will likely take 20+ players from the transfer portal.

They have to set up official visits, meet with the players, and conduct evaluations, while also evaluating current players on the roster. That's hard to accomplish if everyone is preparing for a bowl game nobody cares about.

The most important thing for this program is getting the right coaches and players enrolled so they can turn this program around as quickly as possible. To do that, they need time and manpower, and not having a bowl game allows that to happen.
