It’s not basketball season, but FSU head coach Luke Loucks has gotten hot on the recruiting trail over the past couple of days, adding two blue-chip commits in the 2026 recruiting class.

The Noles added a commitment from small forward Collin Paul on Wednesday, and one from shooting guard Brandon Bass Jr. on Thursday.

Both players play high school basketball in the Sunshine State. Paul is the No. 122 player overall and the No. 40 small forward nationally. Bass Jr. is the No. 125 player overall and the No. 19 shooting guard nationally.

Those two additions give FSU four commits in its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 1 nationally.

I don’t expect FSU to hold on to that No. 1 national ranking; however, it’s a great sign that Loucks has already secured four blue-chip commitments from players all located in Florida.

The 2026 class looks much different than the 2025 class, which consisted mostly of transfer players. The only position he hasn’t addressed in the 2026 class is the power forward position. However, in Loucks’s system, it can feature guys with the ability to play multiple spots.

All of the players FSU has committed rank inside the top 40 at their respective positions nationally. That's excellent for a program that doesn't have the most resources and have barely been above .500 over the past few seasons.

We'll see what type of team the Noles will field in Luke Louck's inaugural season. If they can find some success and proof of concept? It looks like he may have some juice on the recruiting trail
