Florida State baseball showed a lot of heart, winning the final two games of its series against Virginia on the road after losing the first game in its first series without superstar Myles Bailey.

FSU improves to (24-7, 9-3 ACC) with a 9-3 win on Saturday, after winning 5-2 on Friday. Starting pitchers Trey Beard and Bryson Moore were awesome, and the bullpen was excellent over the final two games, while the FSU offense found enough hits and walks to generate enough wins to take the series.

Hunter Carnes was massive in the two wins, going 5-9 with three RBI. He had a home run and a double in the two games. Cal Fisher finally came through at the plate, going 3-7 with his first home run of the season. His two-run shot gave the Noles an early 2-0 lead in Saturday’s contest.

It was good to see the FSU offense finally find ways to score runs to help the pitchers out.

Trey Beard went five innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, four walks, and seven strikeouts. John Abraham was NAILS out of the bullpen, pitching four innings, allowing zero hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Bryson Moore went seven innings, allowing two hits, no runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. FSU took a 9-0 lead into the bottom of the eighth before winning the rubber match.

It was a big series win for the Noles, especially without Myles Bailey in the lineup. However, it should be noted that Virginia lost its series against Boston College team last weekend.

The win keeps FSU atop the ACC standing as they go into their final regular season game against the rival Florida Gators on Tuesday night. The Noles will look to avoid the sweep after losing the first two games looking inept on offense.
