Many FSU baseball (19-2, 4-0 ACC) fans were concerned after the Noles lost to the Mercer Bears in midweek action earlier this week. However, a 14-1 seven-inning run-rule victory over the rival Miami Hurricanes helped quell those concerns in a hurry.
FSU batters hit SIX home runs in the victory, with Max Williams and Myles Bailey hitting home runs in the top of the first to give the Noles a 3-0 lead.

That lead would have been enough for Joey Volini who went all seven innings, allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk, and nine strikeouts. He has gone at least five innings in every start this season.
FSU batters had 14 hits, walked twice, and struck out 11 times. Alex Lodise led the offense with four hits, including two home runs and five RBI. Gage Harrelson, Max Williams, Myles Bailey, and Hunter Carns had two hits. Carnes hit two massive solo home runs.
It was the type of response needed by the offense and pitchers after the lackluster performance against Mercer earlier in the week. FSU played a clean sheet defensively and only left four runners on base. The at-bats were much better although they struck out 10 times. They took advantage of the mistakes the Miami pitchers made and swung at strikes.
They seemed to make a concerted effort to hit the ball up the middle or to the opposite field. The adjustment from earlier in the week paid off.
FSU will send Jamie Arnold to the mound on Saturday night for the opportunity to clinch the series win. Miami isn't a great team, but they have some talent. A road series win, or even better, a series sweep against a rival would be a big feather in the cap for this team after how they looked earlier in the week.
Friday's game will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will air on the ACCNX channel.
