FSU FOOTBALL

This is a realization that Florida State fans didn't truly understand what the program had when former head football coach Jimbo Fisher was at the helm. Coach Fisher handled his business against the arch-rivals Florida and Miami.

Florida State takes on the Hurricanes this Saturday at 7:30 PM EST in a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles will need some help if they hope to knock off the No. 3-ranked Miami Hurricanes.

Nonetheless, Florida State wants to get the bad taste out of its mouth from losing to Virginia on the road in double overtime last Friday. This is a must-win situation for the Seminoles.

DALVIN COOK IS A BEAST

One way that Florida State can take advantage of Miami's defense is to run the football. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn emphasizes the importance of carrying the rock. The Seminoles are averaging 336.3 rushing yards per game through four contests.

Florida State has had a committee approach when running the football with quarterback Thomas Castellanos as well as running backs Gavin Sawchuk, Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr., and Jaylin Lucas (they even have wide receiver Micahi Danzy on the jet sweeps).

Former head football coach Jimbo Fisher is in Tallahassee for this weekend, since he is employed by the ACC Network, and they will be conducting the ACC Huddle show. Coach Fisher spoke with the media and reminisced about old times.

He called former running back Dalvin Cook a "Cane Killer", which I thought was appropriate given his reign of dominance against Miami. Cook had 464 rushing yards and six total touchdowns in his three-year collegiate career when facing the Hurricanes.

Current head football coach Mike Norvell is hoping that the running backs can take advantage of the Hurricanes' defense and find some productive rushing lanes that could change the scoreboard.
