FORMER NOLES IN THE NFL
Florida State football has produced some fantastic former players who have made a significant impact in the NFL. The Seminoles didn't have the season they wanted in 2024, but the program has had success competing for conference and national championships.
Defensive end Jermaine Johnson II was someone the fan base was unsure about, as they did not know how he would perform when the Seminoles brought him in for the 2021 season. The pass rusher had 36 tackles (eight for loss) and 6.5 sacks in two seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs.
However, he hit his stride with Florida State, where he had 70 tackles (18 for loss) and 12 sacks in the lone season that he had with the Seminoles after transferring over there.
JOHNSON II INJURY
Jermaine Johnson II took advantage of his productive season with Florida State, where he was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
The Jets organization has been known for its history of injuries. The pass rusher has never suffered any injuries while he was with the Seminoles. However, football is a physical sport that is unpredictable when injuries happen.
Johnson II had a productive second season with the Jets in 2023, where he was awarded a Pro Bowl appearance. The defensive end had 55 tackles (11 for loss), 7.5 sacks, and one interception with New York during that campaign.
Unfortunately, he tore his Achilles in the second game of the 2024 season. As we know, with injuries such as Achilles, it could be a grind to get back to his old self again. Johnson II announced on social media that he has recovered from the injury.

This is a great moment for such a productive defender. I know that the Jets will take baby steps getting him back up to speed, but I cannot wait to see Johnson II get back on the gridiron again.
