Florida State football had an exceptional 2022 and 2023 run, where they had a combined 23-4 record. This was the shining moment of head football coach Mike Norvell's tenure with the Seminoles.

However, many in the fan base are doubting his ability to coach and lead a team after the 2-10 and 5-7 seasons recently. This is understandable considering that the Seminoles have a winning tradition that involves competing for championships.

There have been several players who have contributed to the Garnet and Gold. Many of those in the Mike Norvell era have been from the transfer portal. Contributors that should be remembered forever on the defensive line are Jared Verse and Braden Fiske.

Former Florida State defensive end Jared Verse has a chance to beat the Bears

Verse was a physical specimen in Tallahassee that struck fear in opposing offensive linemen. The former Albany transfer recorded 18 sacks in two seasons at Florida State. Meanwhile, Fiske had 6 sacks in one season (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

This allowed Verse to be drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. It was expected, as he was considered one of the best edge rushers. To make it even better, one of his close friends and former Florida State teammates (Braden Fiske) was drafted in the second round of the same draft.

The Rams have had championship-level success, but were bounced in the Division round last year against the Philadelphia Eagles. This time around, they will be traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears in frigid weather.

The Rams lost to Chicago in last year's regular season by a score of 24-18 on the road. They will be looking to get revenge in this year's matchup. Jared Verse only had four tackles and a tackle for loss, while Braden Fiske had four tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack.

This is a great opportunity for the young Florida State defensive duo.
