Florida State football has been an up-and-down roller coaster as of late. The Seminoles have had a combined 7-17 record over the past two years. This is not the expectation of the proud program that strives to compete for championships.

During his tenure at Florida State, head football coach Mike Norvell has relied heavily on the transfer portal to bolster his roster. Many fans thought it was a bad idea because having homegrown recruits with multiple years of eligibility seems to be the play that most teams in college football are doing.

One name that the Seminole faithful probably miss right now is former running back Lawrance Toafili. The former four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class served as a true Florida State Seminoles, where he stuck through all of the highs and lows.

Former Florida State running back Lawrance Toafili signed with Orlando Storm

Lawrance Toafili wasn't a flashy running back at Florida State. He finished his Seminole career with 340 carries for 1895 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, along with 92 receptions for 905 yards and four touchdowns through the air (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

It was a disappointment that he didn't get drafted, but the New York Jets were able to snag him up as an undrafted free agent. It was awesome to see Toafili reunited with former quarterback Jordan Travis at the time, but the signal-caller had to medically retire from the NFL then the Jets didn't keep the running back.

It doesn't look like Toafili's playing days are over, as the Orlando Storm have signed him to a deal, which was announced on social media.

Toafili had great moments, including a 75-yard touchdown reception in the 2021 meeting against Clemson, where he stayed in bounds. He then put his team on his back in the 2023 ACC Championship Game against Louisville.

Overall, we at ChopChat cannot wait for Toafili to get his shining moment again.
