FSU running back Lawrance Toafili isn't a name that will immediately come to mind when talking about the best running backs in FSU history.
However, he might be one of the most underappreciated players in the Mike Norvell era, who didn't get dealt a great hand during his FSU career, but made the most of it.

Toafili stayed at FSU his entire career, despite terrible teams in his first two seasons and having a transfer running back take over the starting role for the next two years. However, he was always there, a hard worker who was productive when called on. That hard work paid off because he signed with the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Toafili wasn't drafted earlier this year, but he'll get his shot to join former teammates Jermaine Johnson and AZ Thomas in the Big Apple.

Toafili was more productive at FSU than you'd imagine. He rushed for 1,895 yards, averaged 5.6 yards per carry, and scored 15 rushing touchdowns. He had 92 receptions for 905 yards and 4 touchdowns.
He had 432 yards from scrimmage for 2,800 total yards and averaged 6.5 yards per play. He did all that while not a full-time starter and with an offensive line that was bad most of those years.
Toafili's skill set should fit well in the NFL. He can catch passes out of the backfield and runs stronger than you'd think at his size. He's listed at 5'11" and 194 pounds, and tried out for the Jets during the mini-camp in May. He must have impressed enough to get another shot with the team this summer. We wish him the best, and know he'll represent the Noles well wherever he goes!
