Florida State football disappointed last season, finishing with a 2-10 record. This is not the Seminoles' standard as a football program. I realize that Miami has never won an ACC championship, and their fans only know what it feels like to hoist the Big East championship.
The Seminoles' coaching staff was expecting to run the football in 2024 with the likes of Roydell Williams, Lawrance Toafili, Jaylin Lucas, Caziah Holmes, Samuel Singleton Jr., Kameron Davis, and Micahi Danzy. However, Florida State ranked near the bottom of college football in rushing offense.
With that being said, the Seminoles hired former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn to be its next offensive coordinator, and he likes to establish the running game early and often in his offensive scheme. Malzahn has had a track record of everywhere he has been with running the football.
It looks like Kameron Davis and Ousmane Kromah could be a young duo to monitor for the offense. I know that it is a lot to rely on true freshman Kromah, but the Seminoles did not snatch him from the likes of Georgia to not play him early on in his career.
Florida State's coaching staff knows that it wants to out physical the opposing teams with the running game by looking at the transfer portal acquisitions that the Seminoles have done:
-WR Duce Robinson (6'6", 220)
-TE Markeston Douglas (6'5", 275)
-TE Randy Pittman (6'2", 230)
-OT Gunnar Hansen (6'5", 330)
-OT Micah Pettus (6'7", 350)
-IOL Adrian Medley (6'5", 305)
Overall, the coaching staff seems to want to play a physical brand of football. It makes sense with Florida State having to play the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Miami, Florida, North Carolina State, and others in 2024. The running backs still have to be able to make defenders miss in the open field, but at least the program has offensive linemen who can create rushing lanes.
