Florida State baseball (35-14, 16-9 ACC) defeated the Clemson Tigers 8-4 in game one of their three-game series on the road. Wes Mendes had another quality start for the Noles for the win, going six innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs, two walks, and 10 strikeouts.
The Noles gave Mendes a comfortable lead early, scoring four runs in the first three innings before opening a 7-2 lead through five innings.
Chris Knier was the first guy out of the bullpen, and he only pitched one inning before John Abraham entered the game with a 7-4 lead. Abraham pitched 1.2 innings before coming out of the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs after allowing a walk and a hit.

FSU looked solid on the road for the first time in a while.
He didn’t look like he was in any real pain, but the way the trainer came out, who knows. Hopefully, it was precautionary to remove him from the game, but if it’s an injury that forces him to miss an extended amount of time, it will greatly impact the FSU pitching staff in the postseason.
Payton Manca got the final out after Brodie Purcell walked the only batter he faced to load the bases. FSU has lost some crazy games lately at Clemson, and it looked like the stars were aligning once again for that to happen. However, the crisis was averted, and FSU will look to win the series on Saturday.
John Stuetzer went 1-5 with a home run and two RBI. Brayden Dowd went 2-4 with three runs scored, and Brody Delamielleure had another monster game, going 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. It was another game where the offense struck out fewer than 10 times (8). They had 11 hits and only left five runners on base. They went 3-3 with a runner on third base and less than two outs.
