Florida State should be worried about a rival getting a dominant lineman in portal

This would be bad news for the Florida State Seminoles.

Florida State football did not have the best season that it wanted, as it limped to the finish line, where it lost seven of the last nine games. The Seminoles started their losing streak when they traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on the Cavaliers on the road.

After the Virginia game, Florida State had to play the Miami Hurricanes in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. Even though the final score ended up being 28-22, it wasn't as close as it looked. The Seminoles were down by a score of 28-3 and made a fourth-quarter rally.

Florida State's offense found difficulties moving the football on offense, with pass rushers Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain Jr. creating pressure on the Seminoles' offensive line.

Mario Cristobal could be getting another productive pass rusher in the portal with Damon Wilson

Obviously, I am a huge Florida State fan who loves discussing this football program, but I have to give credit to Miami head football coach Mario Cristobal and his ability to focus primarily on the offensive and defensive trenches.

The trenches are where football games are won, and I wish that Florida State had more of an emphasis on that aspect. However, it should be worth considering that the Seminoles did add eight defensive linemen in the high school recruiting ranks and two in the transfer portal.

Miami is heading into the offseason, where they have to replace production from Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain Jr. These were two defensive ends who were in opposing offensive linemen's nightmares.

However, both of them are leaving Coral Gables, and the Hurricanes have to reload. Unfortunately, Miami has an expert prediction from On3's Stephen Wagner to land Missouri defensive end transfer Damon Wilson.

This would be an excellent addition for Miami, as he recorded nine sacks from a season ago. With the Tigers, Wilson looked unblockable. It would be horrible if the pass rusher landed in Coral Gables because that would mean that the Hurricanes are trying to reload their efforts to make it back to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
