Florida State football did not have the 2025 season that it wanted, as it limped to the finish line with a 5-7 record. The Seminoles also lost to the Miami Hurricanes by a score of 28-22 in a game that wasn't even all that close, but Florida State happened to rally in the fourth quarter when the game was decided.
As most know, Indiana defeated Miami last night in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game by a score of 27-21. The Hurricanes kept it more competitive than the experts thought.
Florida State football fans had a good laugh in the game because Hurricane fans are the world's worst on social media, where they act like they have been relevant for the past twenty years. However, on Monday night, the harsh reality set in that money cannot buy everything for Miami.
Carson Beck choked under pressure for the Miami Hurricanes when it mattered most
Miami made headlines for the second straight offseason, as they secured a highly-touted quarterback transfer in the portal. The Hurricanes have done a phenomenal job recruiting the trenches from within, but they have not had the same luck in the high school recruiting ranks for signal-callers.
Miami grabbed quarterback Cam Ward in the transfer portal last offseason, and then they secured Carson Beck this offseason. The former Georgia Bulldog has had quite the collegiate experience, but he has his turnover-worthy moments that are head-scratching.
During the 2025 season, Beck had three games of double-digit interceptions (according to ESPN Stats and Information). Two of those contests were losses in the regular season against Louisville (4) and SMU (2).
In Monday night's contest against Indiana, Beck did a solid job in ensuring that he was not throwing it in harm's way and handed the football off to running back Mark Fletcher. However, when the Hurricanes needed a final touchdown against the Hoosiers, Beck threw a deep pass down the left side of the field for defensive back Jamari Sharpe to seal the game.
Head football coach Mario Cristobal continues his efforts as a great recruiter, but struggles to be a good game manager and win the games that matter.
