After a whirlwind fall that gave us another year of heartbreak on the football field, a national championship from women’s soccer, and a basketball season that keeps us on emotional standby every week, it is finally time for my favorite season of all. Spring sports are back, and peace will be restored.

Florida State rolls into spring loaded with a whole lot of talent across seven sports: baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, outdoor track and field, women’s lacrosse, and my personal favorite, beach volleyball.

Baseball

Starting off strong with Florida State Baseball opening in mid-February looking to build on a 42-16 season in 2025 that included a second-place finish in the ACC and a run to the NCAA Super Regionals. The Seminoles hosted regional play in Tallahassee, showcasing an explosive offense and a lot of pitching depth that carried them through the postseason. The 2026 season may look a bit different following key offensive departure, but with impactful transfers arriving, returning standouts like Myles Bailey, and continued pitching strength under Link Jarrett, expectations remain high for another postseason run.

Softball

FSU softball begins its season tomorrow at the JoAnne Graf Classic against Samford, coming off a dominant 44-7 overall record and an 18-2 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles claimed the ACC regular season title and hosted an NCAA Regional for the 11th straight season. With one of the top offenses in the country and a pitching staff that consistently ranks among the ACC’s best in ERA, Florida State is entering its 2026 season with championship expectations.

Golf

On the course, women’s golf is already in full swing having just taken their first tournament win in Guadalajara, Mexico. After starting the final day in second place, the Noles swiftly moved into first with a 4-under par 284 to secure a three-shot victory. The Seminoles are coming off a top-10 national finish last season, highlighted by impressive individual performances and key ACC regional wins. The men’s team also finished strong with a No. 10 ranking and look to return to the NCAA Championship with experienced leadership and depth, when their spring begins in mid-February.

Tennis

Men’s and women’s tennis are well into their dual season, navigating challenging schedules. The men’s team currently sits at 6-3, while the women see 2-2. With improved singles depth and consistency in the lineup, both programs have a shot to climb the ACC standings and secure postseason bids.

Outdoor Track and Field

Outdoor track and field are also already underway building on a strong 2025 season that saw fourteen ACC qualifiers and several NCAA appearances across men’s and women’s sprints, distance, and field events. The Seminoles bring a lot of strength, speed, and depth to the outdoor slate with similar expectations of send another strong group to nationals.

Lacrosse

This spring also marks an exciting milestone as Florida State introduces its 11th female sport, women’s lacrosse. With its inaugural season on the horizon, I am excited to see the continued growth of women’s athletics in Tallahassee.

Beach Volleyball

I saved the best for last with my girls over at beach volleyball. The Noles return to the sand February 20 at the Unconquered Invitational with momentum after a 26–13 season and a top-10 national finish, ready to make their name know this season. The Noles are going to see a lot change this year as they transition into the Big 12 conference after graduating four seniors and adding eight new faces. New conference, new pairs, but the same end goal, a national championship. I am eager to watch!

Even now from a distance, I am so excited to follow along every step of the way. Spring at Florida State has always been different, and this year is no exception.
