Florida State's 2027 recruiting class ranks as the 40th-best in the 247Sports Composite rankings. This was expected, as head coach Mike Norvell is firmly on the hot seat according to many analysts. There isn't much to cheer about in Tallahassee right now with the two straight losing seasons.

The Seminoles are trying to find some level of consistency, but Florida State has crumbled down the stretch. It makes it even worse when head coach Mike Norvell claims that it will get better and they know the standard, but it seems like there is a new low for the program everywhere they turn.

Florida State is hoping that the new additions to the coaching staff will pay off. Assistant coach David Johnson has been with Norvell from the start, but he is now at Arkansas. As a result, the Seminoles hired Kam Martin to be their running backs coach.

Martin has produced a 1,000+ yard rusher in each of the past four seasons, so you would think that would be enough to draw attention to top-tier talent. Still, the Seminoles have been striking out on recruits such as four-star Gary Walker (Clemson), four-star Ty Keys (Miami), and Brayden Tyson (South Carolina).

Florida State extends a new offer to a talented Texas running back

Four-star Jayden Mills and three-star Marquis Fennell are targets that the fan base is monitoring from the position, but a new name has emerged in the fold. The back is four-star Daylon Gordon from Wylie, Texas. Florida State just recently offered the Texas native.

The official visit that Gordon has scheduled is to Houston on the weekend of June 4th. The Seminoles are likely too late to the party with an offer, plus the Cougars probably have more going for it right now than Florida State. That is a crazy statement to say because it is the nature of the college football landscape that we live in.

Running back isn't necessarily a position that the Seminoles need right away. Still, Florida State shouldn't be in the category of turning down a playmaker who had over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns during his junior season of high school.
