Florida State player's actions before official visit should make fans feel solid about his commitment

More commits need to have this sentiment.

Florida State hasn’t had much momentum on the recruiting trail with its 2027 class. They managed to land their quarterback earlier this week in three-star Logan Flaherty, and he seems interested in getting players who want to get Florida State back to where it’s supposed to be.

Recruits sharing that sentiment seem to be few and far between these days, but one Florida State commit seems genuinely excited about his pledge to the Noles and his upcoming official visit.

Four-star composite, Anthony Cavallaro has posted a couple of positive remarks about his commitment and his official visit:

Florida State has some serious ground to make up if they plan to have a good recruiting class for the 2027 cycle.

Cavallaro committed to Florida State in January after attending a Junior Day and came back in at the end of March. He’s one of several talented defensive ends that Florida State defensive end coach Nick Williams has targeted and gotten on campus.

That position has been missing in action over the past two years, but it seems to be one of the few where Florida State may be willing to spend money on top-tier players.

Cavallaro has an excellent frame and lists at 6’5” and 230 pounds. It’s refreshing to see a player excited about his commitment and official visit, with the program coming off a 7-17 mark over the past two seasons.  Florida State has the No. 40 recruiting class nationally with seven commitments. The coaching staff will host its first set of official visitors next weekend. They have six players (including Cavallaro) set to come, and he will be among the highest-ranked players on campus.

The hope is that Cavallaro and the coaching staff can make up some major ground over the next few weeks in acquiring some talent. Most of the top teams already have 10+ commitments, and there’s a wide gap between FSU and its rivals like Florida, Miami, and even Clemson has started making a move towards the top 20.

Teams like Syracuse, California, NC State, Boston College, and Pittsburgh have higher-ranked recruiting classes at the moment. Hopefully, that won't be the case at the end of June with official visits season ends.
