Florida State's 2027 recruiting class still has work that it needs to do. The Seminoles are nowhere near close to finishing their fold with only seven commitments, but the fan base wants it to be a top-ten class, which seems unlikely with the track history.
The Seminoles are having to battle the negative recruiting of head coach Mike Norvell being on the hot seat and not potentially being around for the 2027 season when the recruits arrive on campus. The administration showed confidence in him to return this year, but what happens if they have another underwhelming campaign?
One thing that Florida State can make a positive of last season was beating Alabama in the season opener. While the Seminoles aren't like Auburn Tiger fans and only care about beating the Crimson Tide, it was a nice sell to recruits of what it is like when Florida State plays up to its potential.
Florida State plays Alabama on the road this year, so the Crimson Tide might be looking for revenge. However, as former quarterback Thomas Castellanos says, Alabama still doesn't have Nick Saban to save them from what will come in September (all jokes).
Florida State and Alabama are in a neck-and-neck recruiting battle for three-star running back Tai Phillips
Florida State and Alabama are in a recruiting battle for the talented Class of 2027 three-star running back Tai Phillips from Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina. Phillips will be officially visiting the Seminoles on the weekend of June 5th and the Crimson Tide on the weekend of June 12th.

Florida State currently does not have a running back committed to its 2027 class. I recently wrote about the Seminoles turning up the heat for a four-star option Daylon Gordon, but it seems like Florida State is trying to make a move with three-star Tai Phillips.
To be honest, the coaching staff has struck out on several running back options, such as four-star Gary Walker (Clemson), four-star Ty Keys (Miami), and Brayden Tyson (South Carolina). Plus, another three-star target, Marquis Fennell from Valdosta, Georgia, will be deciding on June 25th and plans to officially visit Florida State on the weekend of June 6th.
If they feel like they will miss out on Gordon and Fennell, they need to pursue Phillips away from Alabama and get the job done. Younger options Ousmane Kromah and Amari Thomas on the roster are very talented, but the coaching staff needs to always restock the position group with high-caliber prospects.
