Florida State has turned up the heat for this talented four-star running back prospect

This is certainly someone that Florida State needs to land in its class.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is nothing special right now, as they rank as the 40th-best according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles' fan base expects Florida State to be in the top ten, but with the recent struggles, it is hard to get recruits to say yes.

Head coach Mike Norvell is firmly on the hot seat talk, and the Seminoles need to have a great season in 2026. That is how they will be able to salvage this recruiting class. Recruits are hesitant to commit to Florida State. To be honest, I don't blame them because of the uncertainty surrounding the Seminoles.

The administration gave the announcement of Coach Norvell returning for the 2026 season, but what happens if another disaster strikes? It could force their hand to fire him and get a new coach. The recruits could be devastated because they would be committed to someone who recruited them, and now they are gone, plus there isn't a guarantee that their position coaches are on staff either.

Florida State has to lock in talented four-star running back Daylon Gordon

Florida State's recruiting class has seven prospects in it, and the fan base is wondering if the Seminoles will ever catch a hot streak in recruiting again. The "new car smell" has worn out, and Florida State just has to win.

The Seminoles have Mike Norvell running the show on offense in 2026, and his offense emphasizes the ability to run the football to set up play-action. They have talented pieces in the backfield, such as Ousmane Kromah, Tre Wisner, Samuel Singleton Jr., Gemari Sands, and Amari Thomas.

However, the Seminoles have to always look to add more talented pieces to the backfield. Florida State has struck out on a couple of talented prospects in the 2027 cycle for the position, such as four-star Gary Walker (Clemson), four-star Ty Keys (Miami), and Brayden Tyson (South Carolina). With that said, the coaching staff cannot give up their pursuit of the position and settle for the portal.

Florida State extended a new offer to Class of 2027 four-star running back Daylon Gordon from Wylie, Texas, last week. The recruitment has progressed quickly, as the Seminoles have already scheduled an official visit with him for the weekend of June 19th.

Gordon is a dynamic playmaker who is shifty like current wide receiver Micahi Danzy. He runs an 11.24 100-meter time. The Texas native had over 1,500 yards and 18 total touchdowns during his junior year of high school (according to MaxPreps).

With Texas State being his only official visit on the weekend of June 5th, I believe that Florida State could get some good recruiting news with Gordon if they want him in the fold.
