Florida State's 2027 recruiting class isn't where anyone wants it to be, as they rank outside the top 50 of the 247Sports Composite rankings. Head coach Mike Norvell is a dead man walking, according to some analysts, and it is difficult for fans to handle the fact that the program has had six losing seasons in eight years.

This isn't the same program that the legendary Bobby Bowden built, but it isn't over by any means. The administration had to feel at least somewhat confident this offseason when they decided to retain Norvell for the 2026 season. To be honest, the 2022 and 2023 campaigns were good, but everything else was a train wreck.

This must be how some recruits feel about the situation, too, because there hasn't been much excitement within the program. Some don't even know if Norvell will be employed in 2027 when they arrive on campus.

Nonetheless, Florida State has to put its head down and focus on itself instead of worrying about what the doubters say. This is a crucial recruiting weekend for the Seminoles, where quarterback commit Logan Flaherty made the trip to Tallahassee.

Florida State looks to be in strong shape to land three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis

The attention has been on four-star wide receiver Sean Green and three-star running back Marquis Fennell, but Florida State is starting to emerge as a favorite for another prospect in three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis from Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida.

Lewis already had a crystal ball prediction from a while back in favor of Florida State from Noles247's Zach Blostein. However, it was interesting to see if the Seminoles would still want him in the class, as the defensive lineman board has expanded.

Noles247's Kolby Crawford joined the crystal ball prediction club on Friday afternoon and put in another prediction for the Seminoles for the talented defensive lineman. The Florida native had 37 tackles (12 for loss) and seven sacks during his junior season (according to MaxPreps).

I know that the fan base would complain about three-star prospects, but this would be a solid pickup for the Seminoles in this class. He is expected to commit to the school of his choice, but we will see if that changes with the visit.
