Florida State football player will be a Day 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft if healthy

This might be a bold prediction, but this player is so talented.

Florida State football did not have the 2025 campaign that it wanted, and now, fans are frustrated that the Seminoles don't have any draft picks, as of Saturday morning.

What did you expect?

The only players of note that entered the draft who could have had a high chance of being selected were defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. The singular possibility of another name being called could have been safety Shyheim Brown if he stayed on the same trajectory as he did when he was a youngster, but he didn't play often as he did early in his career.

The fan base is ready to blame head coach Mike Norvell for all the failures, and I get the frustrations. However, this is the year to prove the doubters wrong about getting more players drafted in the league and Florida State being a solid overall team in 2026.

Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson has a chance to be a Day 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft

Call me bold all you want to, but I like this Florida State squad's chance to be successful in 2026. Head coach Mike Norvell will be responsible for play-calling duties, and it will no longer be Gus Malzahn's "gimmicky offense", as fans called it. We will see more screens and slants to neutralize the opposing defense and set up downfield passing opportunities.

While some fans are up in the air about former Stanford and Auburn transfer Ashton Daniels being named the starter, I believe that wide receiver Duce Robinson will be a huge factor in the offensive game plan.

Robinson didn't come back to Tallahassee to take a step back where he had unfinished business. There were inconsistencies in his game, but he still finished with 1,081 yards and six touchdowns. The former USC transfer and legacy player only had six games of five or more receptions.

I expect more force-feeding him the football in red zone opportunities, and during Ashton Daniels's breakout appearances at Auburn against Vanderbilt and Alabama, he allowed his playmakers to have chances to succeed.

If anything is guaranteed, it will be Duce Robinson getting the football in key moments. Robinson's only flaw as a player was his hands with the drops, most notably the Seminoles' road loss to Virginia.

There are plenty of playmaking weapons that will be drafted next year, such as Cam Coleman and Jeremiah Smith, but NFL teams should take notice of Duce Robinson. It all starts with the pass catcher performing well early in the year against Alabama and SMU.
