RECRUITING NEEDS TO PICK UP
Florida State football has the 23rd-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle with nine commitments. The Seminoles' fan base has been disappointing, particularly with high school prospects, under head football coach Mike Norvell's tenure.
The program hired several new coaches to its staff this offseason. Florida State football finished the 2024 season with a 2-10 record. The standard was not met for the Seminoles, who are used to competing for conference and national championships.
The new coaching staff finished on a high note in the 2025 recruiting class, where they landed high-caliber pieces such as four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry, four-star running back Ousmane Kromah, four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn, and four-star defensive end LaJesse Harrold.
STACK UP THE TRENCHES
The emphasis is starting to be placed on the trenches, specifically the offensive line. Assistant coach Herb Hand has acquired three-star offensive linemen Xavier Payne and Michael Ionata in the 2026 recruiting class.
However, Coach Hand wants to secure more offensive linemen. As a result, the Seminoles offered Class of 2026 Mississippi State four-star interior offensive lineman commit Jakobe Green from Niceville, Florida. He has been committed to the Bulldogs since February 2025.
GREEN WAS OFFERED BY FSU
Green only has an official visit scheduled on June 20th with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but I have a feeling that the Seminoles can start to get involved with the recruitment.
Coach Hand has had Power Four coaching experience, where he has coached the offensive line at schools such as Auburn, Texas, Penn State, and Vanderbilt. He has a history of success that recruits can gravitate to.
The Florida native is listed at 6'3" and 335 pounds, so the coaching staff would have a fun time developing him. Even with having three offensive linemen in the fold for the class (if Green decides to flip), I think there could be a chance that Florida State secures five offensive linemen in the high school ranks.
