Another weekend of official visits is underway for Florida State football. It’s not a large number like last week or next week, but it features some of the better players FSU has a legitimate shot to land. On the list is 4-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune, who is a standout for Poplarville High School in Mississippi.
Oddly, FSU is heavily in the mix for such a high-ranking player from that state, but the Seminoles have done a great job recruiting him over the past couple of years. They were also the first to offer him a scholarship in 2024.
He has been on campus several times since 2024, including this spring with his mother. They have always been among the top schools in his recruitment. He’s already taken official visits to Auburn, Cal, and Washington.
An interesting note is that he canceled his official visit to LSU, and Florida State looks like it will be the final official visit he takes. LeJeune ranks as the No. 119 player and No. 11 defensive lineman nationally. LeJeune posted a video on his social media page while riding in the car with Mike Norvell. It appears the official visit is going well: Â

Florida State is hoping to land Sam LeJeune over Auburn, Cal, and Washington
I was critical of FSU spending resources recruiting a top player from Mississippi because the odds of those players leaving that state are usually minuscule if they are involved, and Mike Norvell is the head coach. However, it appears there’s a lack of big-time defensive linemen available in-state in this recruiting cycle, so FSU had to expand its search.
The Seminoles have signed some solid defensive linemen over the last two recruiting cycles, and LeJeune would be the second quality defensive lineman in the class, along with Eric Vaulx Jr. However, he’d be the top commit in the class if he were to commit right now.
All of the stars have aligned in this recruitment. FSU gets the last visit, so they must already be in the ballpark financially, or he wouldn’t have made the official visit and canceled like some others. He’s already canceled his LSU visit, and he didn’t commit to any of the other places he visited.
FSU has been trying to establish some momentum over the past week and has added three solid pieces to reach 10 commitments in the 2027 class. A commitment from LeJeune would be a big-time addition for Mike Norvell and Terrance Knighton. The latter has put a lot of time and effort into this recruitment, and the two immediately started doing defensive line drills (in a playful manner) when LeJeune arrived on campus on Friday.
Florida State should be the top school to land three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis on July 11th when he officially announces, but that should not interfere with trying to land LeJeune's services.
FSU has the No. 51-ranked recruiting class nationally going into Saturday. If they can gain a commitment from LeJeune, it should prove to everyone that they still have some fight left in them.
