Florida State baseball is in some deep trouble after losing four straight games, which included getting swept in a series on the road to top-five opponent Georgia Tech. While the Yellow Jackets are one of the best hitting teams in America, the Seminoles took a turn for the worst when adversity struck.
Link Jarrett and his squad dealt with the season-ending injury to the superstar infielder Myles Bailey. That was hard enough on a Seminoles team that had goals and aspirations of making a deep run in Omaha. However, they come back to reality after this weekend, that maybe it just isn't meant to be in 2026.
Florida State is still looking for its first championship in program history, and I never want to count out the ability of Coach Jarrett to get the job done, but his players have to deliver massively, as they sit with a 24-11 overall record and a 9-6 conference record.
Florida State baseball has to find a way to bounce back tonight against Stetson
The good news for the Seminoles is that they play Stetson at home tonight (Tuesday, April 14th) at 6 PM EST on ACC Network Extra. Florida State has had a three-day break since the last time that they played against Georgia Tech on the road.
They should be motivated since the Seminoles were run-ruled by a score of 17-3. Florida State was leading in the game by a score of 3-2 in the fifth inning, then everything turned into a disaster very quickly.
Pitcher Cooper Whited is expected to take the mound tonight for the Seminoles in the matchup against Stetson. Whited has recorded 20.2 innings with a 1-2 record and a 3.48 ERA this season for Florida State (according to Seminoles.com).
The junior left-handed pitcher is fresh off a 4.1 inning performance against the arch-rival Florida Gators, where he allowed four hits and two earned runs. Whited allowed two home runs (one in the third inning and one in the fifth inning) to let Florida get the 4-3 victory on the road.
The Seminoles defeated Stetson by a score of 6-3 in Dick Howser Stadium on Tuesday, March 31st, and Florida State is hoping for a similar result tonight.
