CB QUINDARRIUS JONES
The defensive backfield was loaded with talent last season, with pieces such as Azareye'h Thomas, Fentrell Cypress II, and Kevin Knowles II. All of those contributors have now migrated over to the NFL. Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has a young and talented rotation that is hungry to prove that they belong.
Much of the discussion from the fan base is centered around players like Jeremiah Wilson, Earl Little Jr., KJ Kirkland, Shyheim Brown, and even Ja'Bril Rawls. However, there is so much talent and depth in the room that some won't be mentioned as often.
I originally thought that a player like cornerback Quindarrius Jones would be a pivotal part in the secondary for 2025, but he is barely mentioned. Jones had some flashes in 2024 but was in more of a reserve role within the defense.
There is always a risk in assuming that a returning player would take a jump the next year if there is a coaching and scheme change. That could be happening with a player like Quindarrius Jones (and maybe even a veteran Shyheim Brown).
The former three-star prospect is in a prove-it year that he belongs in the defensive back rotation, which will be tasked with guarding the likes of Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard, and Isaiah Horton in Week 1, so they will all have to be ready.
