DE JAMES WILLIAMS

Florida State lost all three of its productive defensive ends from a season ago with Patrick Payton, Marvin Jones Jr., and Sione Lolohea. However, it was not a devastating blow as the pass rush was non-existent in certain contests.

The Seminoles' defense under the new defensive coordinator wants to confuse opposing offenses, be physical, and get after the quarterback. Florida State added defensive line coach Terrance Knighton and defensive coordinator Tony White from Nebraska, so it would only be right to pick up quality defensive end transfer James Williams from the Cornhuskers.

Williams was a situational defensive end for the program, but he did have five sacks in his limited role. We will see how he performs with a full-time role, but I am hopeful that Williams can get after the quarterback in pivotal games versus Alabama, Clemson, Miami, and Florida.

I think that Coach White and Knighton will tap into the potential of the former Nebraska defender.
