Emphasis has to be placed on the WR position for the 2025 recruiting cycle

Wide receiver must be emphasized for the Seminoles in their 2025 recruiting class.

Florida State's 2025 recruiting class has taken a hit with the Seminoles' 1-5 record start. It is difficult to persuade highly-touted prospects to come to the university with the struggles.

Unfortunately, Florida State had de-commitments at the wide receiver position from four-star Daylan McCutcheon (committed to Texas) and four-star Malik Clark (committed to South Carolina). The only pledge that is left at the position is four-star CJ Wiley.

Wiley is a prospect that many individuals thought would try to pledge to the home-state Georgia Bulldogs. However, he elected to join the good guys at Florida State instead. We previously wrote that head football coach Mike Norvell recently visited Wiley at his high school football game.

This will be a recruitment that Norvell will have to continue to push for. The recruiting target board at the position has to be expanded. The Seminoles did extend offers recently to four-star Jayvan Boggs, four-star Donovan Murph, and four-star Tae'Shaun Gelsey (Florida commit).

It will likely be difficult to grab Murph from South Carolina with the home-state Gamecocks being a leader in his recruitment, but Boggs and Gelsey could be in play if they push hard enough and start being productive on the field.

I believe that being able to start redshirt freshman quarterback Brock Glenn is a great thing for recruiting the wide receiver position because he can be able to utilize the younger playmakers on the roster such as Hykeem Williams, Lawayne McCoy, BJ Gibson, Elijah Moore, Landen Thomas, and Amaree Williams.

With that being said, the first order of business has to be keeping Wiley in the fold. He is a very good prospect in the Seminoles' class. Then they likely need to secure two recruits at the position as current receivers wide receivers Malik Benson, JaKhi Douglas, Kentron Poitier, Darion Williamson, and Deuce Spann will be gone after this season.
