Florida State had an efficient Early Signing Period, where it ranked as the fourteenth-best recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite. This is a situation where the Seminoles signed 32 high school prospects. This was not something that the fan base was used to.
It wasn't the best class that the Seminoles ever signed in the Norvell era. However, it had a couple of pieces that could see meaningful snaps in Year 1, such as Chauncey Kennon, Izayia Williams, Jasen Lopez, and Jalen Anderson.
The Florida State faithful was waiting on the moment that the Seminoles started to rely heavily on the transfer portal. This offseason has to be different, after the program finished with a 5-7 season in 2025 (Florida State went 2-10 in 2024).
There were individuals that were not happy with the 2026 recruiting class because it was filled with "three stars with heart". This isn't a situation where I promote that star rankings don't matter because they are a good starting point to how a prospect is, but those recruits are allowed to outperform their ranking.
We mentioned earlier that Florida State Director of Recruiting Devin Rispress hinted at good news for the Seminoles. This was a situation where the fan base thought that it was relating to three-star defensive lineman Cam Brooks signed with Florida State.
What if the Seminoles pulled off the surprise of landing LSU four-star defensive end commit Trenton Henderson from Pensacola, Florida?

Henderson was someone that the Seminoles were involved with heavily in his recruitment, even after he committed to the Tigers. While head football coach Lane Kiffin is now in town for LSU, this doesn't mean that Henderson would instantly sign and stay in Baton Rouge.
With that said, Florida State signed nine defensive linemen to their recruiting class. If they were confident in landing Henderson, they probably wouldn't have obtained that many at the position group. I could be wrong, but I think it could be a pipeline dream that the Pensacola native ends up in Tallahassee when his ceremony comes around on Friday.
