Florida State football desperately needed some great news during the Early Signing Period, after the program lost to arch-rival Florida to end the year without a bowl appearance and the Seminoles decided to retain head football coach Mike Norvell, which caused frustration.
The fan base was on its final straw with Coach Norvell, as other options emerged in the coaching carousel, such as Lane Kiffin. However, the Seminoles felt that he could still turn it around in Tallahassee and the $54 million buyout was too pricey.
The pitchforks can rest for a bit after the Seminoles had a productive 2026 recruiting class. Florida State has thirty prospects committed in the high school ranks, which is the most in the Norvell era. The coaching staff must have learned that the 2025 recruiting class was impactful last season and wanted to develop more young talent.
This is encouraging because many individuals thought that Florida State would be living and dying by the transfer portal. The Seminoles had done well to acquire talent on Wednesday for the Early Signing Period, but Director of Recruiting Devin Rispress hinted on social media that the Seminoles are not finished with bringing in more recruits to their 2026 class.

It should be noted that, at this time, four-star wide receiver Jasen Lopez signed to Florida State in his ceremony, but it has not been officially announced by the university. This shouldn't be who Rispress is mentioning in the tweet.
Five-star defensive end Trenton Henderson still hasn't signed with LSU yet, and could be a prospect that Florida State is going all-in for. This would be a logical suggestion, since the Tigers brought in new head football coach Lane Kiffin. Henderson could possibly not want to deal with a new assistant coaching staff in his true freshman season.
Maybe I am shooting with the stars on this guess, but Henderson would bring so much excitement to a fan base that is starving for sustainable success.
