DJ Uiagalelei's dad throwing shade at Florida State is an absolute joke

Not sure what Big Dave's problem is

The less said about the 2024 season the better, especially when it comes to the disastrous decision to invest in DJ Uiagalelei as a transfer quarterback. Outside the opening drive against Georgia Tech, it never seemed like a good fit.

But both DJU and FSU seemed to chalk it up as just something that didn't work out for either party. And that makes this social media engagement from DJ's father, Dave, pretty surprising, after DJ led the Los Angeles Chargers on a touchdown drive late in Thursday's Hall of Fame game.

Now Big Dave retweeted a troll Miami account, so take the content with a grain of salt. For the most part, the communication between FSU nation and the Uiagalelei's had been positive despite the struggles last season.

So where the hell did this come from? Is Big Dave suggesting that the FSU staff are to blame for his son's inability to throw with accuracy or show any kind of mobility in the pocket? There's nothing worse than a helicopter dad blaming coaches because his son couldn't live up to the billing.

Was the failure of FSU's offense last year solely at the feet of DJ? Heck no. It was a bad fit to start, and the roster was terrible. The offensive line couldn't block, and the running game never got going. If Big Dave wants to blame Mike Norvell andstaff for falling asleep at the wheel, I'm here for it, but part of the blame comes from bringing DJ into the program to start when he wasn't a good fit.

There's no need to rant much about the player here because DJ seemed to handle all the struggles with class and put a lot of the responsibility on himself. By all accounts, he was a great teammate last year and has a history of being a good teammate.

Despite the shade from Big Dave, the later exchanges between him and FSU fans were about as positive as Twitter/X exchanges usually go these days.

FSU fans clearly remember that DJ was as disappointed as anyone by his struggles at FSU, and it shows the signs of a fan base mature enough to move forward.

Hopefully Big Dave can do the same.
