FSU baseball (24-4, 7-2 ACC) overcame a 5-0 first-inning deficit to defeat the Jacksonville Dolphins 11-10 in midweek action. The pitching woes continue for the Noles as stater Hudson Rowan only recorded one out, allowing four earned runs on three walks, and one hit.

Maison Martinez continues to struggle and gave up another home run in relief, continuing his streak from the weekend against Notre Dame.

FSU used six pitchers, allowing 11 walks, eight hits, and 12 strikeouts. Brady Louck looked solid in three innings, only allowing one earned run on one hit, no walks, and two strikeouts.

The FSU offense answered Jacksonville in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by Max Williams. They tacked on four more runs in the second inning on a no-doubt monster home run by James Hankerson. Alex Lodise and Myles Bailey had RBI singles in the frame.

Max Williams hit his second home run to dead centerfield in the fourth, followed by a Brody Delamielleur RBI double. Drew Faurot had an RBI single.

Jacksonville battled back to close the gap to 9-8 with a solo home run in the sixth inning. However, a huge two-RBI single by Alex Lodise in the seventh proved to be huge because FSU's Jacob Marlowe struggled to close Jacksonville out in the ninth. Marlowe got the first two outs after a strong eighth inning, but two walks and a hit allowed Jacksonville to cut the lead to 11-10 before Ben Barrett got the final out.

Overall Thoughts

The FSU offense is the only reason FSU won the game. It's great to see them respond when they know the FSU pitching staff is struggling to get hitters out.

I'm not too concerned about the midweek issues. It will provide opportunities for guys to emerge who can help in the postseason when needed. A prime example was Brady Louck's performance. Marlowe looked like he was heading into that category, but the loss of focus with two outs was a letdown.

Link Jarrett will continue to use these midweek games as auditions for guys to show who wants to pitch when it matters most.
